The EAGLES " Tequila Sunrise / 21" 45 (Asylum , 1973

Certa critica finto-purista ha sempre considerato gli EAGLES come una semplice "arena ( o coliseum) rock" band. Resta il fatto che "Desperado" è uno dei più grandi dischi country-rock mai incisi.
Uscito nel 1973 ;il disco era un "concept" tutto teso ad omaggiare l'epica del Wild West e dell'outlaw.
Ovvi erano i rimandi all'imagery tipica del "western crepuscolare" dei grandi SAM PECKINPAH e SERGIO LEONE.
Il disco narrava allegoricamente le gesta della "gang" Dalton/Doley che aveva seminato terrore e morti tra il Kansas , l'Arkansas etc. negli anni tra fine '800 e inizio '900.
I temi presenti nell'album sono stati benissimo riassunti da Richard E. Land (from Fayetteville, Arkansas) in una sua bella recensione su Amazon.com : "Loneliness, uncertainty, fear, the road, wild times and hangovers, sudden death, love that is all too short. The feeling of being outside the mainstream... I loved it. ".
La bellissima "Tequila Sunrise" e "21" ( un ottimo country-rock scritto dal chitarrista e poli-strumentista Bernie Leadon ) , uscirono su 45 giri nello stesso 1973.
"They say a man should have a stock and trade /But me, I’ll find another way / I believe in getting what you can /And there ain’t no stoppin’ this young man / Because I’m young and fast as I can be /I know what freedom means to me" (from "21).
"It’s another tequila sunrise /Starin’ slowly ’cross the sky, said goodbye /He was just a hired hand /Workin’ on the dreams he planned to try / The days go by /Ev’ry night when the sun goes down /Just another lonely boy in town / And she’s out runnin’ ’round / () Take another shot of courage /Wonder why the right words never come /You just get numb /It’s another tequila sunrise..."
